Even though I started computering with DOS, and the command line is a leftover of that system, I felt that the book provided helpful reminders of how to navigate with basic commands.

The author's warning to cautiously use some of the commands is well taken because the command line is a powerful tool and not forgiving if the user makes a mistake/5(). The book that changed the way computer books are written and marketed has come out in a third edition.

By and large, it's the same as the previous edition (advances in MS-DOS have not been numerous), but there is some new information here. Further, DOS for Dummies remains an entertaining book and if you use DOS, it's the book you want to assist 4/5(47). If you are running Dos on your computer this is a great book to get started with.

I would recommend this book if you were only running Dos. If you are using Windows as an operating system, this book will help you understand Dos better, but I would not recommend buying by: 1.
